I am a Norwegian musician based in Oslo. I play electric and acoustic guitars in different constellations and I also like to fool around with e-bows, fans, bows and such to have a broad specter of sounds to work with.
I am mainly working in the field of improvised music as a way of making music, not a genre. I am currently a student at the jazzdepartment at the State Academy of Music in Oslo, and I am now studying under the supervision of the great Norwegian guitarist/improviser and co-founder of the label SOFA, Ivar Grydeland.

| TONNY KLUFTEN (NO)  A familiar face on Oslos improv-scene, especially known from the bands Huntsville and No Spaghetti Edition with which he has released a number of albums.
He does not care about how others say the bass is supposed to be played, and has a noticeable personal style and a brave and direct connection with his instrument.

Acoustic, quiet and surprising, consisting of Stian Omenås (trumpet), Øyvind Skarbø (drums), Jo Berger Myhre (bass) og Morten Minothi Kristiansen (guitar).
Melodies, abstract textures and rythms blends in reliable harmony. From odd corners of southern Norway they met to play on Øyvinds initiative after incidentally having played first time together on a miniature livingroom improv festival by the name "Supersurprise" last year.

Snorre Hvamen has a background from the Norwegian Theatre Academy.
He is working with various artistic disciplines, often through music, performances or site specific. In many cases he is using localities or/and materials that have been abandoned or rejected. No boundaries – interdiciplinarity. Some themes are common for his projects, such as public space, interactivity and education. X-Skole (installations in co. with Norwegian schools), 1. Klasse (performance), Window Shopping (public art installations) and You Are Not Here (public art installations in coop. with Lithuanian Ignas Krunglevicius) are some examples of Snorres works.
He may bring someone to his performance at Podium. We’ve only got a few leads; ghettoblasters, some cables and mics.

| STABWOUND EMPIRE (NO)
 STABWOUND EMPIRE has given us a few expressions to characterize what it may sound and feel like (watch out!); necro noise, power electronics, primal bassloops, pedals and mics.
As a purpose the project has no defined rules or guidelines for its artistic content or sounds – except spreading creepy atmosphere. STABWOUND EMPIRE is a quite young project under that specific name, but Sindre Foss Skancke is aslo known as the man behind the dark death-noise beast Utarm.
This may give us a clue, though STABWOUND EMPIRE is a totally separate project. It has only been shown live a few times, one of them at det prison in Bergen. And now – at Podium.

Svarte Greiner is so-called tenebrous 'acoustic doom' made by Erik K. Skodvin, better known as one half of Deaf Center. It’s called spooky, art-house, psychologically disturbing and beautiful. Complex.
Like an audio movie.
Svarte Greiner has gained an overvelming response both Internationally and in Norway, especially after releasing “Knive” in 2006. Top score in newspapers and div. genre magazines. More than 30000 hits at myspace. There’s got to be something – and we’re pround to have it here at Podium.
Svarte Greiner will do this special gig together with Elegi.

| STEN OVE TOFT (NO)
Sten Ove Toft is one of the leading artists within the Norwegian scene of noise. Besides being an active solo artist, Toft has been a main figure due to projects such as Ryfylke, Röyskatt and Waffelpung. Also he has a long list of cooperatives; Lasse Marhaug, Anders Hana, Stian Westerhus, Serena Maneesh and The Low Frequency In Stereo amongst others.
At the end of 2007 Toft released the solo lp ´Lit De Parade´ on his own label Roggbif Records. Ballade.no rewied it as the perfect cross over between Lasse Marhaug’s infernal noise and Helge Sten aka Deathprod´s dark and foggy soundscapes. This also characterise Toft’s live shows quite well. The same year Toft visited both the USA and Europe for one month, and two weeks on the road in Great Britain. So far he has done more than 200 gigs and appeared on at least 50 record releases on labels all over the world.

Born out of good karma, maximal joy and transcendental impulsive alpha waves, The White Tiger Prepade rides through the night on a wave filled with shimmering light and magical crystals. The bands (duos) simple set-up with drums and guitar manages to sound like a full band, filling up your ears and flashing infront of your eyes with spastic, animalistic primal screams that aims only to give the spectator peace in mind and body.
Great End" ep (2005) released .. Mountains, Tracks from this EP and other recordings, have made their entrance on a diversity of mix tapes and compilations in countries such as Canada, Portugal, Italy and USA. 7" split with Haust recently released on Norway rat records. STARK VISION OF THE MORNING - Voice on the top of soft melodies, electronic music structure, based on dark rhythmic background. Working as musician and visual artist, I combine sound work - voice and visual research. I have realized projects incorporating visual art, film, live performance.
I started my studies in Visual Art, and later on music, playing piano and using the voice. By focusing my formative itinerary on the experimental dimension of the voice, I was influenced by the oriental vocal extreme techniques - Asian throat singing and rhythm North Indian music. I have realized projects incorporating electronics and audio-visual installations, electro-techno music, participating in several Music Festivals, DJ set, and join ventures in Brazil, Germany, Belgium, Pakistan, Ireland, France, Finland, Bosnia Erzegovina, Norway.

Beneva vs. Clark Nova (Fenêtre Records ) consists of the Oslo based duo Frank Benjamin Finger og Rudi Simmons. Their music is based upon many different influences; the soundscapes are detailed and full of contradictions as the duo are concerned about melodies, but at the same time fond of abstract sounds.
Imagine a combination between the askew pop sound of Hanne Hukkelberg, the electro-acoustic world of Sebastien Roux and Greg Davis, and the complex rythms of Autechre. And everything in between.

Bror Sander Berg Størseth (b. 87) is doing experiments within the electronic field.
This is electronica with simple, but unusual instruments. One Tenori-On and one Monome 128 (we’ve heard they are totally unique and handmade…).
Bror will do tiny samples, improvised at Podium. Lots of blinking lights and beating rythmes. You should not miss this young guy with his strange machines.

Intense live act for one voice, two microphones and a laptop. Joana Aderi's own voice provides the basis for her compositions; each performance is an applicant research in human voice exploring its dynamic aspects from barely perceivable whispering to bloodcrudling screaming and growling.
The computer enables the performer to observe her voice from a different angle and to let it react in diverse environments such as beats, esthetical noise or vacuum.
Eiko is european modernism, where language is music - language, that sometimes flows in an american way of story telling.

Behind Elegi is Tommy Jansen (one half of Cordion). The lp debut “Sistereis” was released on Miasmah (Erik Skodvin’s label) in 2007. As Svarte Greiner, Elegi is often called acoustic doom – still without being classified as such. Lynchian soundscapes which capture the ghosts of the shipwrecks... And the scary atmosphere of hauntedness in the Sea is also some kind of a theme at this lp.
One rewier said that after listening to “Sistereis”, he wasn’t sure he was prepared to listen to it again. But he did, and suddenly he was warming to the record’s icy charms. This is sounds that demands your attention, but offers you a travel in time and beneeth. It’s also said that Elegi sound like a kaleidoscope of experimental folk, combined with dark ambient. Meet Elegi and make up your own mind.
Elegi will do this special gig together with Svarte Greiner.

 Elevator combines improvised music with impulsive drawing. In the intimate dialogue between an ambitious soundscape and a stream of sketches, new images and moods arise. South African pianoplayer and saxophonist visits Oslo for the first time. He was recently honoured with the "Standard Bank artist of the year" price for 2008. He plays a broad range of music's from pop to free jazz.
As an important inspirational figure on the jazz scene in South Africa he has has performed on stages in Europe such as the Euro De Afrique festival in Italy (along with such names as Yusuf N'dour and Papa Wemba), the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague, Holland 2000 and 2002 and the Swedish Jazz Celebration in Sweden, Stockholm in 2006.

| HER ETHIC (NO)
Her Ethic is an industrial/electrorock project based in Drammen. Inspired by Robert Anton Wilson, Timothy Leary, Aleister Crowley amongst others, the Order of Her Ethic is based on the belief that music is supposed to change how the brain functions, transform consciousness, and where possible adjust – or destroy – the human ego. Behind these seemingly altruistic ideas are demons from another dimension, whos only purpose is to create chaos and destruction for the sake of their own pleasure.
Tons of positive feedback from the Norwegian synth/goth/industrial-scene has alerted the world to the Order's existence, and they are currently recording their first full-length album, Skyclad. They are aiming at a summer 2008 release.

Next Life are Hai Nguyen Dinh and Trond Harald Jensen. The project was formed in Tønsberg by Dinh in 1999. Early in their carrer the compositions were made using electric guitar and Amiga computers.
Over the years they have included both computer synths, samples and regular human played instruments. This musical synthesis has had many names, amongst others electro violence, futurepunk and Gameboy-metal. Using video animations and lights synchronized with the variations i the music and the members moves, their live appearances are something looking forward to.

This unique style set its root while Grydeland studied improvised chambermusic at Norways College of Music (2001 - 2003), together with percussionist Ingar Zach. Since, the musical style of Grydeland has burst the improvisational traditions, whether it is called free jazz, or intuitive music. As an improvisational artist, Grydeland has had the chance to play with countless groups, as well as being part of numerous recordings.
